Time Management

We are in week 5 and i am on target i have started to make my contents page and my front cover i have developed it by changing the font and how the font looks and the colours of the font, the one thing i have not done i have not yet had any feedback from my target audience about my front cover or my contents page i will have the feed back for my front cover and contents page next week and then i can make any necessary changes to my magazine.

Research and Planning : Photo Shoot

First photo shoot

These photos look really dark but i think it connotes the genre as the cloths look quite Pop as its sparkly beading on the neck so when its in the light its a bit like a disco ball and the disco ball connotes pop music.

The costume i have chosen for this photo shoot is quite simple as it uses a black skirt and black tights with a flesh coloured flowing shirt with a detailed neck line. And polished shinny buttons which are reflective.

The make-up for her eyes i chose to do smokey eye-shadow, mascara and eyeliner. For her face i used a soft beige foundation, transparent foundation powder and blusher. And finally her lips i used a bright pink lip stick and a sparkly lip gloss.

The hair i tried to make her hair really messy and a lot of volume to make it look like she has been dancing and has done her hair before she went out.

The location i chose as it it plain i chose a plain background as from my research i found that the magazine backgrounds are plain and normally white or cream.

Second Photo ShootThese photos are more natural as she is not wearing much make up and her is simple as it is just up in a bun.The photos are more natural than the others as there is not as much make up used, i only used some mascara and a little eyeliner to define her eyes and i used a little foundation to cover up some blemishes that he has and to cover the purple under her eyes. Her hair is really simple i put her hair into a high bun and put her side fringe over her face a little , i like this as her hair is really natural with out the back combing and the hair spray i used in the photos before.

Third Photo Shoot

These photos are less natural as he has a lot of eye make up on with brings the audiences attention straight to her eyes. Her hair style is swept back away from her face and to the one side of her face with a plat braid in her fringe to keep any excess hair from her face i did this as it made her look like she has nthing to hide like a new artist and it show that she is confident with the way she looks.

I have placed her in the same place as the other photos with a plain white background so it doesn't take the attention from her and the way she looks.

Her dress is very lacey which is very current in the fashion industry and i thought that if she were a pop star she would be wearing all the latest fashion trends and the hottest designer cloths.

Research and planning: Video Respons and Feedback

What i have learnt:
I have learn't from my feedback group that the favourite name was Sound they said it shows what the magazine is going to be about. My feedback group said my colour scheme should be bright colours as it attracts the audience to the magazine. My feedback group said that my double page spread should contain information about up and coming artists, they think my magazine should be informal and chatty. The price should be about £1.50 the target audience are mostly students so they can't afford to pay much for a magazine.

Evaluations of My Student Magazine

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
After i had analysed the two student magazines i had a pretty good ideal of what the magazine should look like such as it should has a central image not just lots of little pictures, you need a bold clear Masthead that is easy to see, the house style should be used continuously throughout the Front cover and the Contents page and you need no more than three or four colours in the colour scheme there also needs to be a balance of informal content and language and formal content and language as i think this connote Students starting to be more informal. I have tyred to include all these elements in my Student magazine. I have used Four colours Red, Black, Blue and white i decided to uses these colours from my focus groups and as i think it connotes the balance between informal and formal. My central image is of a College student as this links with the genre of the magazine. So my magazine is the similar to a professional student magazine.

2. How does your media product represent different social groups?
My magazine is aimed at students of a similar age to me so i made my magazine in a way that was appealing to me and from comments from other fellow students. The colour scheme i have used i think has made the magazine more appealing to students as i have used blue which connotes cool weather, the sea, the sky e.t.c. its doesn't connote anything that doesn't appeal to students , i have used red with the blue as its connotes a sense of rebellion which young people tend to do in the teenage years. My central image is of a Smiling student which makes the reader what to read the magazine as it connotes to the audience what college is like. I made the Masthead and the cover line font all the same as this continues the house style throughout the magazine and i think the font is unusual so it is more likely to catch someones eye. I have tyred to make the puff stand out as its making the audience want the magazine more as it appeals to them as they would want to try and win the price on offer. I have made the price affordable for students in or out of work.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think that my magazine is most suited to my college as it caters for mostly people ages 16 to 19 and the content is more suited for this kind of age bracket as it offers advice for people that my not be able to cope with the coursework load and it offers other advise for young adults. It is also fun and caters to a more outgoing side of young students that are finding there feet in the world.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for my magazine is 16 to 19 year olds as they are the most likely to what to find out how to do there best at college and learn the best ways keep on to of coursework and what it going on in the local areas.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?
I attracted my audience my using bold contasting colours that stand out and bold clear titles and cover lines to make it eyecatching aswell as making it look professional. I tryed to make the magazine really simple as i learnt from my research that magazines with a busy front cover isn't as appealing as a clean and simple front cover. For my contents page i continued the same font and the same colour scheme but i uses  two pictures in my contents page as there were empty spaces in the contents page and this made it look messy.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
While i was makeing my magazine i learn't to use InDesign and i have only used InDesign at my work experience at a graphic design studio where i got to grips with some of the tools and what they did so making a magazine was less complicated as a new what some of the tools did. I took my photos on a digital camera and uploaded them onto the Computer useing a USB cable. I haven't learn't anything new from taking the photos as i am a keen photographer.

Research evaluation

After asking three students in my focus group my research questions i found out that the masthead that they found most appealing was Rookie as it was unsual. I also found out that the colour scheme was a varity between red and black or red, white and blue so i decided on red, blueand black as then i incorporates all the chosen colours and they are unisex colours so it will appeal to both gender. the picture for the front cover is of the ludlow college arch and with students underneith the arch. the content is going to be a mixture of fun artical such as reviews and atractions around the local area and important information that the student will need. The font that is going to be used as my masthead is going to be chalk duster as it suggests itself to a younger audience.
